Diderot in Vincennes
In the hot summer of
1746 government prohibited the book "Pensées philosophique" of the french
philosopher Denis Diderot. His opponents burned it.
Im heißen Sommer von 1746 verbot die
Regierung das Buch "Pensées philosophique" des franzoesischen Philosophen Denis
Diderot. Seine Gegner verbrannten es.
Diderot was imprisoned in the castle of
Vincennes, formerly royal hunting seat and residence. Jean Jaques Rousseau used to visit
him there several times.
Diderot wurde in Vincennes, vormals
Jagdschloß und Residenz, eingesperrt. Jean Jaques Rousseau besuchte ihn dort mehrmals.
To save the money for the coach, Rousseau
did the 8 kilometers from Paris to Vincennes by hiking. To kill time, he began reading
while he walked.
Um das Geld fuer die Kutsche zu sparen, ging
Rousseau die 8 Kilometer von Paris nach Vincennes zu Fuss. Um sich dabei die Zeit zu
vertreiben, begann er unterwegs zu lesen.
